Are you tired of old patterns that seem to repeat? Perhaps you want to understand why unhelpful dynamics sometimes get in the way of your best life. Do you feel curious about the adaptations that lie underneath your reactions and behaviours? Or maybe you are simply ready to feel more at ease within yourself…
Over nine days in the beautiful English countryside, in the peace and tranquillity of Hawthbush Farm, we will engage deeply with the roots of disconnection and the pathways home to yourself. This powerful programme weaves together daily Kundalini Yoga, breathwork, meditation, and facilitated group practice with practical tools, including dietary guidance, stress regulation, and naturopathic support. This is more than a retreat about addiction; it’s a journey of reconnection and transformation. The Beyond Addiction programme has been supporting individuals since 2008. Supported by a global community, you will return home with tools for lasting change, and continue your journey with 16 weeks of guided online integration.
What you will learn
How to use specific yogic practices to reduce cravings and stabilise the nervous system
How breathwork and movement influence the brain, adrenal function, and executive capacity
How to recognise and shift subconscious patterns that sustain addictive behaviour
How to cultivate steadiness, presence, neutrality, and clarity in communication and relationships
Heal trauma, and understand where it might be held within the body.
Recover Your True Self is an invitation to slow down, nurture your nervous system, and step into a healthier rhythm for your body and mind. By the end of this programme, you will leave with many practical tools and an embodied understanding of yourself
Behaviours and Adaptations
Addiction is not simply about substances or compulsive behaviours — it is often a nervous system caught in survival mode. Over time, patterns of coping become automatic adaptations: ways to numb, avoid, control, or escape emotional pain, stress, trauma, or overwhelm. At Beyond Addiction, we look beneath the behaviour, gently exploring the adaptations that once served a purpose but may no longer support the life you want to live. Do You Recognise Yourself in Any of These?
Disordered eating patterns … emotional eating, sugar cravings, restriction, or bingeing Over-exercising, over-controlling, or keeping yourself constantly busy Difficulty being away from your phone… feeling dependent on social media or AI
Workaholism, perfectionism, or the pressure to constantly achieve
People-pleasing, codependency, or losing yourself in relationships Avoidance, distraction, or a persistent sense of numbness
Harsh self-criticism and lingering shame
Compulsive behaviours such as pornography use
Gambling, gaming, excessive shopping, or impulsive spending
A restless feeling… always wanting to be somewhere else
“Addiction is not a choice that anybody makes; it’s not a moral failure. What it actually is: it’s a response to human suffering.” - Gabor Mate

“I joined the Beyond Addiction retreat as an acupuncture student, hoping to learn how to better support future clients struggling with addiction. What I didn’t expect was to discover how much unprocessed pain I was carrying within myself…The retreat created a deeply safe space, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. I felt supported in every moment of my process…I am deeply grateful for this experience and would recommend it to any healthcare practitioner, or anyone ready to honestly look within and transform”

“Attending the Beyond Addiction Retreat in September was one of the most meaningful and unforgettable experiences of my life. The retreat created a safe and supportive space to explore and understand our addictive behaviours while learning practical ways to face and counter them. It helped me recognise deeper needs, past trauma, and patterns I had not fully understood before”

“What made the experience even more powerful was the sense of connection. I met incredible people and formed deep, genuine bonds with others who were on similar journeys. There was a real atmosphere of compassion, openness, and support throughout the retreat. The facilitators and organisers were incredibly kind, welcoming, and supportive, creating a space where everyone felt safe, respected, and encouraged to grow.
Hawthbush Farm itself was truly special and played a huge part in the overall experience. The farm is vast, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful nature. Being there made it easy to slow down, disconnect from the noise of everyday life, and reconnect with nature in a very grounding way. The open space, fresh air, and calm atmosphere created the perfect environment for reflection, healing, and personal growth.
The accommodation was comfortable and thoughtfully prepared, and it really felt like we were being well taken care of during our stay. The food was another highlight. The food is prepared fresh, healthy, nourishing, and genuinely delicious. Every meal felt like it was prepared with care and intention.
The entire place has such a warm and welcoming energy. Staying at Hawthbush Farm made the retreat even more meaningful, and it’s a place that I will always remember with gratitude. It provided not just a beautiful setting, but a peaceful space that supported the deep work we were doing. I truly hope to return to such a special place again in the future.” —Daeya
